Ekahau discontinues support for Sidekick 1 network analysis devices

Ekahau Sidekick 1 support ends June 30, 2026

Ekahau has announced the end of support for Sidekick 1 — the original device for precise analysis, diagnostics, and performance measurement of Wi-Fi networks. At the time, Sidekick 1 changed the game by transforming the complex process of network analysis into a convenient and mobile workflow. Since then, technology has advanced, and the company is preparing to bid farewell to the first generation of the analyzer. Official support for the device will cease on June 30, 2026.

How it will impact device owners

Although Sidekick 1 will physically continue to work, its functionality will become limited over time:

  • Future software updates will no longer support this model.
  • The device will not receive technical fixes, bug patches, or service updates.
  • New features (e.g., for AI Pro) will become unavailable, which could lead to complete incompatibility with Ekahau software in the long run.

Industry Standard — Ekahau Sidekick 2

The Wise IT team recommends taking a closer look at the Ekahau Sidekick 2, the most current and functional tool for Wi-Fi network analysis and diagnostics on the market.

Sidekick 2 outperforms the previous model in key specifications:

  • Support for new Wi-Fi 6E (6 GHz) networks guarantees long-term relevance.
  • Twice the measurement speed thanks to new antennas and radio modules.
  • USB-C port instead of the outdated Micro-USB.
  • Active cooling with a silent fan.
