Microsoft has announced a major global update to its Microsoft 365 commercial solutions, which will introduce expanded functionality while accompanied by price increases.
Our team has prepared a detailed overview of these changes along with actionable advice on how to optimize your IT spending.
What’s New: Benefits and Expanded Functionality
Starting in June 2026, new capabilities will begin rolling out across various plans, with the full deployment expected to be completed by August 1, 2026. The update covers nearly all popular offerings:
- For Business plans (Business Basic, Standard, Premium): Users will receive an additional 50 GB of email storage, real-time URL time-of-click protection, as well as enhancements and analytics for Copilot Chat.
- For Enterprise plans (Enterprise E1, E3, E5): Intelligent Copilot Chat features have been added, while higher-tier plans will include Microsoft Defender for Office Plan 1, Microsoft Security Copilot, Cloud PKI, and advanced management tools via Intune (Remote Help, Advanced Analytics, Endpoint Privilege Management).
- For Frontline workers (Frontline F1, F3): Updates include Copilot Chat enhancements and Copilot Chat Analytics.
Price Adjustments
Updated price lists will go into effect on July 1, 2026. The increase will apply to commercial and government suites, as well as solutions for non-profit organizations (while maintaining the 60-75% discount for the latter).
A brief overview of changes for commercial users:
- Business Suites: Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Standard (both with and without Teams) will see a price increase of 12–23%. The cost of Microsoft 365 Business Premium will remain unchanged.
- Enterprise Suites (E3 and E5): Prices will rise by 5–14% depending on whether Teams is included in the package. The price for the base Office 365 E1 remains the same.
- Frontline Suites: A significant increase of 25–43% for F1 and F3 plans.
- Standalone Components: Subscription costs for Windows Enterprise, Entra (Plan 1 and 2), and EMS will also increase by 9–31%.
Lock in Current Pricing Today
Per Microsoft policy, existing customers will remain at their current (old) pricing until their subscription renewal date. Monthly flexible subscriptions will be the first to be impacted by the price hike. The Wise IT team recommends switching to an annual contract before July 1, 2026, to lock in current rates.
- Your Benefit: Switching to an annual payment plan allows you to fix the current lower price for the entire duration of the agreement.
- Your Bonus: You will still gain access to all new features and extensions (additional storage, security tools, and Copilot) as soon as they become available in the summer of 2026.
