VMware Carbon Black Workload protection for AWS against new threats

VMware announced VMware Carbon Black Workload for Amazon Web Services, a solution that should help protect against new threats and provide comprehensive visibility and security across on-premises and cloud environments for AWS customers.

VMware Carbon Black for AWS is designed to provide advanced protection for both traditional and modern workloads. The service uses a single, unified console that integrates into existing infrastructure, enabling security and IT teams to reduce the number of attack surfaces and strengthen security posture. Improved security postures are provided along with consistent and unified visibility into workloads running on AWS, VMware Cloud and on-premises.

The service allows security teams to see into workloads, providing context to help AWS customers better protect their applications. Features include automated collection and vulnerability listing to help identify risk and escalate workloads, further reducing the attack surface. Support for continuous integration and continuous integration packages used in sensor deployments is said to further simplify agent lifecycle management.

By registering their AWS account, customers using the new service can gain more complete and deeper insight into workloads that go beyond when the VMware Carbon Black workload sensor was first deployed.

VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS combines basic vulnerability assessment and workload hardening with next-generation antivirus to analyze attacker behavior patterns over time and help stop attacks never seen before

Enabling enterprise threat hunting for workloads with behavioral endpoint detection and response allows AWS customers to turn threat intelligence into prevention policy to avoid hunting the same threat twice. The telemetry collects data in VMware’s Contexa, a complete threat intelligence cloud that bridges the gap between attackers and defenders by providing better visibility, control and anomaly detection for workloads.

«Security and IT teams lack visibility and control in highly dynamic and distributed environments. VMware Carbon Black Workload for AWS improves collaboration between these teams with a single, consolidated platform for all workloads, no matter where they run, to help professionals see and stop more threats».

Jason Rollston, vice president of product management and one of the general managers of the VMware security business unit
